Pastor's Corner
I don't spend much time working on the church web site. I"ll tell you why. I've been in the computer business most of my entire adult life. I've written a lot of computer related articles as a Computer Scientist / Code Monkey / Systems Architect and I've read most of the articles I didn't write myself. I understand just how important social networking is. I understand how important it is to appear to be hip and happening technologically. The problem is this: web content is yesterday's news or it is how wonderful it's going to be next week. (Honest it is, my manager said so just last week). If I'm spending my time sitting in my office, writing about what I already did or writing about what I'm going to do, then I'm not actually out "there" getting anything done. And there is a lot that needs to be done. Like what? I'm glad you asked that question. For instance, more than 60% of all Americans have never heard the Good News of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. We have lot and lots of people who think they are spiritual. The problem is they just don't believe me when I tell them that getting a tattoo of some Chinese ideogram that actually says 'Chicken with cashews' does not make them spiritual, and isn't going to save them when it comes time to pay off all your cosmic debts. Something needs to be done and I'm working on it. Not just me, but lots of good folks here at All Saints. A really smart man taught me a very valuable lesson: You can't save everyone. It's true, we can't but we can darn well try. And to that end we are gearing up to do more charity work and more outreach; especially to verterans and returning military. I'm ex-Air Force and I've got a bunch of guys with me who are Army, Navy and Marines. We know, we KNOW what the men and women of our Armed Forces have lived through and we are committed to help.If you are a Vet, come see us. If you know someone who is a Vet, bring them around. If you know someone who is coming back and getting out have them get in touch. All the God talk in the world can't help if you are hungry, sick, or out of work and worrying about your wife, kids, and family. So let us help you find a job, find a house, find a friend you can talk to. Trust me we will get to the God stuff, and it will be Good stuff. Oh, and if anyone can sing or play an instrument, please come see me. I really need to do something about the choir. Blessings,Reverend R. Glenn Stubbs Jr.PastorP.S. I'm here every Sunday morning (go figure) doing the worship thing and every Friday morning teaching computer programming and meeting with people.P.P.S. Just leave a message on the machine or send me an email. I'll do everything in my power to get back to you the same day.
